Jake: I was a nearly 15 year old tabby who commanded and demanded attention. I used to love to hang around on my deck outside. I developed cancer and died February 5, 2009. I didn't like my sister because she was cranky. Bathsheba: I was a polydactyl 18 year old dilute tortie and white. I used to be a big hunter in my day, but I retired when I went deaf. I developed a rapidly spreading cancer that affected my appetite and I died in the garden in November 2009. I loved my mom the best. Jake was a constant annoyance, but I missed him when he was gone. For a short while I contended with that bothersome kitten Emerson who is now my legacy to the cat blogosphere.

You both have a very important job to do now. You are the official heart menders. You know how to do it, be sweet, cuddle, look cute, purr, rub her legs and love on her so that she will feel a little better.
Please let your Mom know that we are so sorry that things did not work out.

Jake an' Bathsheba ... Efurryone has given truly helpful advice, so all I'll say is be sure to cuddle extra with your momma ... It's hard to break up with someone an' then move on. It takes lots of time. Be gentle with her.

Thank you all for visiting. We just learned that our bestest friends Rosie and Cheeto did a post on us and that's how we got all of these wonderful visitors. We had hoped to eventually be California neighbors with them, but it is not to be.

My human just read something from Bill Maher that said a person never really knows at the time whether something is good or bad. It may seem one way, but in the long run it's actually the opposite. only time will tell.

The cats have let me take over the computer as I was worried by your post. Are you Ok?
I broke up with my husband seven years ago now and almost went mad with grief. Seven years is a good storybook number and now I am happier that I have ever been in my life. I have beautiful cats that I love and they are so very gorgeous and my kids have come through, but grief took its toll and left its scars and a taste of bitterness.
Hope you are ok and that you are being kind and good to yourself and that your cats are holding you close.

Dear heart....mine is breaking for your sadness right now. My first marriage was for 20 years...then he left. Now my darling husband of 15 years is the delight of my days....except Miss Peach of course. My days with Peach are few...she has stopped eating and is failing fast. Though there is crying in the night, rejoicing comes in the morning.
