Thursday Thirteen - Sounds
We dislike the sound of:
- Thunder (I made this number one, though Bathsheba doesn't mind it as much as I do. I'm bigger than her so I get my way. ~Jake)
- Leaf blowers and shredders (That's the worst part about this time of year.)
- Vacuum cleaners (aka toy sucker uppers)
- Barking dogs (like the big German shepherd who lives on the other side of the tall wooden fence)
- Chainsaws (Mom made sure we put that one down because that's the sound she hates the most. She's some kind of treehugger.)
- Squealing children
- Telephone ringing (especially when I'm on the bed peacefully sleeping with Mom ~Bathsheba)
- Fireworks (Hey, we're as patriotic as the next cat, but who needs fireworks!)
- Doorbell ringing
- The prisoner transport unit (what Mom calls a "cat carrier") being brought into the house from the shed
- Mom opening the flea treatment applicator (We don't care how quiet Mom tries to be with it, we hear it and don't like what we hear.)
- Lawnmowers (At least that's mostly stopped for the season, but it sure ruins a nice spring or summer afternoon nap.)
- "NO!" said in an angry voice
All of those sounds make us bolt in search of a nice quiet dark spot. What sounds do YOU dislike?

I hate every one of those things you mentioned also!
Being in the city we don't hear a lot of leafblowers or lawnmowers and such, but we DO have garbage trucks that I don't like. But the most terrifying sound of all? The doorbell, hands down. I hate that thing.

There is not one of those I do not strongy agree with you on. Its a crying shame we have to listen to so many horrible sounds with our sensitive ears!
I hates the leaf-blowers and woofie noises too. What a great collekshun of bad nosies.
we hate all those an we also hate plastic bags rustling - empty ones. they're furry scary, but we don't know why. we like 'em if they're fulla groceries, but when they're empty we run.
We hates all those fings too, but the thing we hate mostest of all is whisseling. We just can't stand it!! If we are being bad kitties an don't come to mum when she cawls us, she whissels at us. That makes us run to her making little pitiful crying noises.We tell her that she is being krool, but she sez if we came when she cawled us, she wudn't haf to whissel.
Great list! I agree. Mommy lets me sleep ON her when it thunders because she hates it too.
The sound of her ear drops. I shake the bottle and twist the cap. She knows.
We live in Virginia, too, and I have 3 cats under the same roof that hate each other.

Here we don't like the sound of cans being opened and then not getting any food from them.
