Jake and Bathsheba

A blog by two cats who used to live in the same house in Northern Virginia. Unfortunately, they are both no longer with us.

Oh, the Noise!

Weekends should be for relaxing.

But, no, not for Mom and Dad. Yesterday they worked on leaves again and powered up horrible machines, a blower and a shredder. We were peacefully lounging outside when the racket started. Mom was gracious enough to let us escape the noise and nap inside.

And what happens today?

We're just napping in our favorite spots in the house, when Mom gets that toy-sucker-upper monster* out of the closet. We bolted for the back door before she even set up that evil contraption, and Dad mercifully let us out to lounge around on the deck. It's hard for a cat to find any peace around here.

(*We believe this expression was coined by Skeezix the Cat. I take great pride in the fact that Mom told me that one of my hockey pucks--a bottlecap, if you will--clogged up the long metal piece of the machine and she had to take it apart and use some wire to dislodge it! ~Bathsheba)

Man, you kitties just can't get a break. That was a big pile of leaves your beans made. Did you get your hockey puck back after it gave the toy-sucker-upper indigestion?

Hi, everybody. Thanks for stopping by.

I did get my hockey puck back, Karen Jo; Mom wouldn't dare throw it out.

Eric and Flynn, we could drown in all those leaves. We just like LITTLE piles, not ones that are five feet high.

Grr, Midnight, and Cocoa, why will your lady be cleaning on Thursday? Doesn't she know it's the Thanksgiving Day holiday?
